LCOY Botswana 2025

Theme: Just Transition – Ensuring an Equitable and Inclusive Climate Future

Local Conferences of Youth (LCOY) are official youth-led events affiliated with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). LCOY Botswana 2025 is a national platform designed to empower Botswana’s youth (ages 15-35) to engage in climate action, foster dialogue, and develop solutions for a sustainable future.

This year, LCOY Botswana hosted by Sustain267 brings together students, activists, community leaders, and policymakers to address pressing climate challenges, such as floods, droughts, and the need for a just transition to a green economy. The 2025 edition, themed “Just Transition,” will amplify youth voices, prioritise inclusivity and inspire actionable outcomes to build a climate-resilient Botswana.

2025 Objectives

Capacity Building: Empower young people with knowledge and skills on Just Transition, ensuring they understand its significance in Botswana’s climate response.
Policy Advocacy: Develop youth-driven policy recommendations to inform Botswana’s climate policies and contribute to international negotiations.
Community Engagement: Strengthen grassroots participation by integrating diverse youth voices, including rural communities, Indigenous youth, women, and marginalized groups.
Innovative Solutions: Foster innovation and entrepreneurship by showcasing youth-led climate solutions and sustainable business models.
Networking & Collaboration: Create partnerships among youth organizations, government agencies, private sector players, and international stakeholders to drive climate action.
